CITB - Hang Wallcoverings (Specialist Papers)

This course is designed for experienced paper hanger. You will have either extensive experience hanging standard wallpaper to both ceilings and walls or you will have completed both the paperhanging introduction and paperhanging intermediate courses. The wallcoverings that you will be using on this course are silk, wool stand, flock, hessian, lincrusta and hand printed. These are difficult to handle wallcoverings. You will be taught the considerations for each of the wallcoverings and you will hang them in a workshop environment. Preparation of the surface and the types of pastes used for each specialist covering will be discussed.

This is a 2 Day Course

Course Cost - £490.00 plus vat

Arrive at 9:00am for a 9:30am start and we aim to finish around 5:00pm on both days

You will cover the following:

  • Adopt safe and healthy work practices, procedures and skills relating to the method/area of work
  • Use methods of calculating quantity, length, area and wastage associate with the method/procedure to hang non-standard wallcoverings
  • Check suitability of surfaces to receive wallpaper.
  • Preparation of pastes and adhesives.
  • Protect specialised wallcoverings when handling
  • Prepare and apply specialised  paper wallcoverings, any 3 of the following silk, wool strand, flock. Hessian, Lincrusta, handprinted paper.
  • Work around electrical fittings and pipework.
  • Safe use of access equipment, hand tools and associated equipment.

Course Objectives:

Students will be able to adopt safe and healthy work practices, procedures and skills relating to the method/area of work

Students will be able to use methods of calculating quantity, length, area and wastage associate with the method/procedure to hang non-standard wallcoverings

Students will be able to check suitability of surfaces to receive wallpaper

Students will be able to understand preparation of pastes and adhesives

Students will be able to protect specialised wallcoverings when handling

Students will be able to prepare and apply specialised paper wallcoverings, any 3 of the following eg silk/wool strand, flock. Hessian, lincrusta, hand print

Students will be able to work around electrical fittings and pipework

Students will be able to safely use access equipment, hand tools and associated equipment
